Halloween, Pumpkins, & Candy, Oh My...

Ive mentioned in previous blogs just how much I love this time of year...the crisp cold weather, the turning of the trees, the hot coco and of course the pumpkin pie...yum! It’s all so scrumptious.

I love decorating during this time of year and preparing for all the trick or treaters. I get so excited to pass out candy and see what all the neighborhood children dress up as. My husband and I pass out candy together and usually cook up a cozy fall-inspired dinner while watching Tim Burton’s, Nightmare Before Christmas. (One of my favorite movies.)

We haven't carved our pumpkins just yet since we are saving that for Halloween this weekend but we did decorate our home. I love finding new decorations each year to put up. The vintage-esque looking ones are always my fave.I found some neat ones the other day while out and about. These handmade “spooky cat” blocks are pretty clever. Each set contains six different antique looking postcards when placed together. Another new find that I love is our clown-head figure with the 31 painted on him. (It opens up too, so it’s perfect for candy.)

Of course no October is complete without a trip to the pumpkin patch...so we spent an afternoon there picking out pumpkins to take home.

Wishing you all a happy and safe Halloween!

SmoakShop.com {Product Photography}

I had the divine pleasure of photographing an amazing cosmetic line recently. It was something new for me to try out and I had a blast. What a gorgeous makeup line, ladies you must try it out! {I was so honored when I was asked to shoot it.} SMOAK Cosmetics was created by American model, actress, mother, and T. V personality Shanna Moakler. The line is simply fabulous...it’s mineral based, does *not* contain fragrances, preservatives, harsh chemicals, and best of all it’s NEVER tested on animals. I’ve been lucky enough to get my hands on the line and I’m absolutely smitten for it.

SMOAK launched last week and the website is now live online. Check it out at www.SmoakShop.com to get your hands on some new goodies! Ladies I promise you that you will fall in l-o-v-e with this line.

The site is gorgeous from top to bottom. The design of the website is filled with chic colors and truly showcases the fabulous cosmetics, and the chandelier logo is so perfect and glamorous! {Promise that I’m not just saying that because my hubby at DIGITAL7 Media designed it, hehe.} It really is stunning!

The line fits Shanna to the T, it’s just all around beautiful and I’m so proud of her and all her hard work on this line. She's one of my best and dearest friends and I couldn't be more excited for her. {Shay I wish you all the best with your line and may you have endless amounts of success with it. You deserve it! You did a phenomenal job with all of it.}

I’ll be posting photos from the launch party event that was held last week at ‘Cafe Was’ very soon! We had such a fun time at the event....maybe a little too much fun even!

My favorite SMOAK Cosmetics picks include:

-The entire line of magnificently soft brushes {the foundation brush being my fave.}
-Liquid mineral foundation {it’s so light and feels like velvet on the skin}
-Invisible blotting powder {great for when I’m on the go}
-Liquid Lustre Gloss for a night out {in the “Pink Kisses” shade}
-Mineral Core SPF 15 Lip Tint for day use {in the “Nude” shade}
-Mineral Matte Shadow {in the “Indigo” shade}
-and LOVE the Creative Color Kits that allow you the option to choose 3 or 6 of your favorite shadow colors {perfect for me because I love all the shadow shades, so this is a great way to carry up to six different shades at once.}

Life Photography

I just added this photo to my “life” gallery on my website...it’s one of my faves. I took this at the Orange County Fair this year. There’s something about black and white photography that I just adore...

Just Me...

I figured it was about time that I updated my website with a Bio photo so my hubby and I had a mini little photo session. (He’s a really creative person and one of the people who has inspired me the most to follow my passion for photography.) We headed down to one of our fave spots thats filled with old historic houses and he just snapped away!
I haven't even looked through all of the images just yet...it’s on my list to do sometime soon though.

In the end it made for a great day for us and we had fun with it. There was a lot of giggling going on between shots...hehe.

Children's Photography Session

Near the end of the Summer my husband and I volunteered some time to a really amazing bunch of children who were attending a local VBS program. (Vacation Bible School.) The kids do arts and crafts, play, sing songs, and many more fun things. I did portraits of 125+ children that day and my hubby painted a vibrant mural filled with color as a stage backdrop for them along with other props.(including a giant paper mache alligator named jacque. hee hee) We had a great time there and met some adorable little ones with the funniest and sweetest personalities. We look forward to going back next year!

Senior Photography Session

Had an oppertunitly to snap a few photographs of this group the other day for a Bible Study group, they were all so fun and sweet!

Scentsy is delish

I am so excited that fall is here! This is one of my favorite times of year. I love it all, the cold crisp breezes, the trees turning, the golden brown leaves falling, snuggling up to a fire, hot tea, and most of all the wonderful aroma of the season.

I just love the smell of all the fresh warm baked goodies that come along with this time of year. While lunching with a friend the other day she told me about a new candle alternative she had just fallen in love with. (I have a divine obsession with scented candles as it is, so this caught my interest immediately.) She told me all about them, how they work, how they use light bulbs instead of flames, etc. I was so excited to try them out. I got my order the other day and let me just say these are awesome!

As most of you know, I am a huge animal lover at heart and my hubby and I have two “fur-babies” at home that we adore even though they can be quite mischievous at times. (*smirk*) Well these Scentsy candle-like goodies are 100% pet safe, yay! I was so excited about this, not to mention they are child friendly as well.. They are wickless, sootless, and flameless, and the wax only gets to 99 degrees so you can’t burn yourself...no more days of Lulu, our cat trying to play with the flames of candles.

Needless to say I am loving these.. and the scents are delicious! (They have over 80+ scents) But my personal favorites are the Pumpkin Roll, the Camu Camu, and the White Tea & Cactus. I have the warmers in almost every room in the house and they even have little plug-ins for the bathrooms. (I took a picture of the plug-in in our bathroom at home.) It smells like scrumptious Pumpkin Roll in my entire house right now.. so yummy! Fall is definitely here, up next is to decorate for Halloween!

Psst. You can check out my friends website at https://saxonsmom.scentsy.us for more info or to order your own goodies. These make awesome gifts too!
